The World's Largest Manufacturer Of Home Sewing Machines.
Janome remains at the cutting edge of sewing technology. From its
first computerized sewing machine for home (1970's) most powerful, most sophisticated home machines on the market
today, Janome remains the world leader in sewing machine production including products produced under other brand
names including: Viking, Pfaff, Elna, Sears-Kenmore and Necchi.
Janome America traces its roots to 1860 in Orange, MA, USA with
the production of the New England Single Thread Hand Sewing Machine and subsequent home shuttle designs. In 1882,
it formed New Home (a combination of the labels New England and Home Shuttle). In 1960, the New Home brand was
purchased by the Janome Sewing Machine Company of Tokyo, Japan. This auspicious merger has brought us to the
current day, as the Janome Sewing Machine Company.
